Flumetsulam belongs to the triazole and pyrimidine sulfonamide class and is a typical acetolactate synthase inhibitor. It inhibits the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids, thereby obstructing protein synthesis and causing plants to stop growing. It has a long duration of action and a broad spectrum of herbicidal activity, effective in both soil and foliar applications.
