PROPANIL EC

Propanil 36%EC 360g/L EC Selective Herbicide

Propanil is a highly selective contact herbicide of the amide class. Its mode of action is multifaceted. When the herbicide enters the weed’s body, it first disrupts the cell membranes, leading to accelerated water loss and causing cytoplasmic separation, which breaks the water balance in the weeds. It also damages the photosynthesis process, inhibits oxidative phosphorylation and respiration, and interferes with nucleic acid and protein synthesis. As a result, the physiological functions of sensitive plants are affected, the leaves gradually wither, and ultimately, the plants die.

Application

Propanil can be used in both direct-seeded and transplanted rice fields. After rice transplantation and when the seedlings have stabilized, one application of the herbicide should be sprayed on the leaves and stems of the barnyard grass when it is at the 2-leaf stage. Two days before spraying, the field should be drained, and two days after spraying, the field should be reflooded to submerge the barnyard grass, maintaining water for 7 days.

In direct-seeded rice fields, the application period must be controlled after the weeds have emerged, specifically when the barnyard grass is at the 2-3 leaf stage and the rice is at the 3-5 leaf stage. The herbicide should be evenly sprayed in the field on the leaves and stems. Two days before applying the herbicide, the water should be drained, and two days after application, the water should be restored, maintaining a water layer of 3-5 cm. After keeping the water for 7 days, normal management can resume.

Care should be taken to prevent the water level in the field from submerging the heart leaves of the rice to avoid phytotoxicity.

In fields with heavier salinity and alkalinity, the herbicide can be applied while keeping the roots of the seedlings moist in shallow water. After application, timely irrigation should be done to wash away the salinity and submerge the barnyard grass to prevent phytotoxicity.
