Application
- Application on Rice:
Halosulfuron Methyl shows good safety on rice and can be used both pre-emergence and post-emergence. This herbicide is effective against Cyperus serotinus in rice paddies, as well as other bulbous weeds like wild water chestnut, purple nut sedge, and Acorus calamus, achieving complete eradication. It also demonstrates good efficacy against various broadleaf weeds such as polygonum, Portulaca oleracea, Cardamine hirsuta, Murdannia spp., wild Canna indica, etc. Efficacy against barnyard grass and duck tongue grass reaches about 70-75%. - Application on Corn:
Apply the herbicide in the 3-5 leaf stage of corn and weeds, preferably during the 4-5 leaf stage. The recommended dosage for the 75% WDG formulation is 45-60 grams per hectare, mixed with 15-30 liters of water. The suppression rate of common weeds in corn fields such as Xanthium strumarium, Alternanthera Philoxeroides, Commelina communis, and Acorus calamus is over 90%. However, it is generally ineffective against grass weeds. In corn fields, it can be mixed with other herbicides like nicosulfuron, primisulfuron, atrazine, bromoxynil, dicamba, and flumetsulam. - Application on Sorghum:
Apply the herbicide from the 2-leaf stage of sorghum to before heading, targeting weeds in their 2-4 leaf stage. The dosage for 50% WP is 72-140 grams (active ingredient 36-70 grams) per hectare. In sorghum fields, it can be mixed with other herbicides such as atrazine, bromoxynil, dicamba, and flumetsulam. - Application on Chili Peppers and Tomatoes:
Pre-plant soil spray:
One day before tomato transplanting, mix 75% halosulfuron Methyl WDG at 6-8 grams per acre with 40 kilograms of water to spray the soil evenly when weeds are in their 2-4 leaf stage. Avoid using on windy days or if rain is expected within one hour. Post-emergence foliage treatment:
After transplanting tomatoes and when weeds are in their 2-4 leaf stage, use 75% halosulfuron Methyl WDG at 4-8 grams per acre mixed with 30 kilograms of water for spraying. After 60 days, it shows excellent control over Acorus calamus, wild Parkinsonia, Sorghum halepense, and Amaranthus. The efficacy against weeds improves with increasing dosages. - Application on Spring Wheat:
It is recommended to use 75% halosulfuron Methyl WDG at 75-90 grams per hectare (active ingredient content 56.25-67.5 grams per hectare) for post-emergence spray during the 3-5 leaf stage of spring wheat. The efficacy against weeds like Coriandrum sativum, Polygonum aviculare, goosefoot, and winter melon weeds can reach over 80%. - Application on Sweet Potatoes:
The 75% halosulfuron Methyl WDG effectively controls broadleaf weeds and Acorus calamus in sweet potato fields. It is highly safe for sweet potatoes and does not affect yield, potentially even increasing it. Thus, it can be used in sweet potato fields, targeting weeds in their 2-4 leaf stage with a recommended active ingredient dosage of 45-60 grams per hectare. Due to the variation in weed populations across regions and different planting conditions, further trials should be conducted to observe its effects on subsequent crops before broad recommendations. - Application on Sugarcane:
Halosulfuron Methyl is currently the only herbicide safe for sugarcane that can completely eradicate Nutgrass Cypressgrass both pre-emergence and post-emergence. Its main characteristics include low dosage, high efficacy, and peculiar effectiveness against broadleaf and sedge weeds. The appropriate usage timing for 75% chlorimuron-ethyl WDG in sugarcane fields is as follows:- Pre-emergence treatment: After planting sugarcane and before seedlings emerge, when Nutgrass Cypressgrass is sprouting abundantly, keep the soil layer moist and use a recommended dosage of 6-8 grams per acre mixed with 60-90 kilograms of water for soil treatment.
- Post-emergence treatment: When Nutgrass Cypressgrass has 7-11 leaves in the sugarcane field, apply 10-15 grams of 75% WDG per acre combined with 120-180 kilograms of water for spraying, yielding the best results.
