Matrine Sophora Flavescens Extract Biopesticide

Matrine is a natural plant pesticide extracted from the root and fruit of the leguminous plant Sophora flavescens using organic solvent ethanol. Under natural conditions, it ultimately decomposes into carbon dioxide and water. When insects come into contact with matrine, it paralyzes their central nervous system, causing their body proteins to coagulate. This process blocks the insect’s spiracles, leading to suffocation and death.

As a low-toxicity, low-residue, and environmentally friendly pesticide, matrine can effectively control pests like pine caterpillars, tea caterpillars, and diamondback moths. Its high insecticidal activity makes it difficult for pests to develop resistance. In addition to pest control, matrine also regulates plant growth, showcasing its multiple functions.

Features of Matrine

  1. Eco-friendly: Matrine is derived from nature and is compatible with the environment. It can degrade or metabolize into simple natural compounds in the environment. Its effective components consist only of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. The final products of its decomposition in the environment are carbon dioxide and water, making it a preferred agent for producing green and organic agricultural products.

2. Broad spectrum of insecticidal and antibacterial action: Matrine, derived from plants, is a collective term for several alkaloids. It can not only kill pests but also treat diseases. Pests and diseases do not easily develop resistance to it, and it shows high efficacy against more than 30 kinds of pests and diseases.

3. Long-lasting efficacy: Matrine has a duration of effectiveness of about 10 to 15 days, which is more than double the duration of effectiveness of general chemical agents.
