The best time to use Nicosulfuron:
- During the 3-5 leaf stage of corn (when resistance is strongest and less prone to phytotoxicity).
- When annual weeds are at the 2-4 leaf stage (weeds are relatively small and easier to control).
- Before the 6 leaf stage of perennial weeds and when most weeds have emerged, the application will be most effective.
(1) Ordinary Nicosulfuron without a safener:
It is advisable not to use it when corn is below the 2 leaf stage or above the 6 leaf stage, as it is sensitive and prone to phytotoxicity. If it must be used at more than 6 leaves, it should be applied as a directed spray to avoid contacting the growing point and causing damage.
(2) Nicosulfuronwith a safener:
Compared to ordinary Nicosulfuron, this formulation is relatively safer and can be used after the 5 leaf stage. However, the effectiveness of weed control decreases as the application is delayed, so it is recommended to use it during the 3-5 leaf stage.
